Make A Hair Bow Out Of A Silk Scarf

Colorful silk scarves make for lively hair bows.

In fashion, a silk scarf can be used many ways, including as a hair bow. The scarf's smooth texture makes a soft, feminine statement. Scarves of different colors make different statements, from soft browns, tans and other neutral colors to bright spring and summer colors, including tangerine and lime green. Whether going on a date, going for a day at the beach or just hanging around the house with friends, wearing a silk scarf as a hair bow is a quick yet attractive way to tame your mane.

Instructions

1. Lay the scarf flat on a surface. Fold the scarf several times lengthwise until it is a long strip.

2. Wrap the scarf around the back of your head so that the ends meet at the top of your head. Loop one end through the other and pull it slightly, as if you are tying a shoelace.

3. Fold one end into a loop and wrap the other around it. Pull the second end through the opening formed, also as if tying a shoelace, except pull the end all the way through. Wrap the second end around again and pull it through a second time, being careful not to catch any of your hair in the knot.

4. Tighten the knot. Tuck the second end into the headband part, spreading it out to a bow.

5. Tuck the remaining end into the bow as well. Fan out the other side of the bow. Adjust as needed.
