Clear a driveway quickly with a snow plow.
Snow plows come in a variety of forms but all generally work the same. In addition to snow plow, John Deere uses the terms blower or thrower. There are walk-behind single and double stage blowers and larger models that connect to a tractor. Whatever the machine, it works like a lawnmower, picking up snow and throwing or moving it out to the side, clearing the road, driveway or sidewalk. It is a quick and easy way to clear a path in order to get to your desired destination.
Instructions
1. Attach the blower to the tractor following the instructions in your owners manual. The plow mounting frame attaches to the front of tractor. The tractors are made to accept John Deere attachments.
2. Put ice cleats on over your shoes to avoid falling. Do not wear loose clothing to avoid getting it caught on something. Consider wearing ear plugs to protect your ears from the loud noise the machine makes.
3. Start the machine by pulling the cord, pushing the start button or turning the key, depending on your unit. Do not start inside a garage or building. The unit emits toxic fumes that can be harmful if breathed in.
4. Select the direction you want to blow or move the snow. Turn the handle on the front of the machine and select left, right or straight. To raise the plow, pull the clutch lever back; to lower it, push forward.
5. Plow snow at a low speed. The deeper the snow, the lower the speed should be. Going too fast in deep snow can jam the plow.
