A DIY valentine shows your boyfriend you care.
Boys, like girls, appreciate receiving Valentine's Day gifts. If you have a boyfriend, or a boy who is just a friend, you should include him on your gift-giving list. He'll likely appreciate a gift that shows you understand him and his interests, so avoid giving generic gifts. Instead, give him a unique gift to show him how much you care.
Personalized Music Gifts
If your boyfriend is a budding music buff, give him something that will show him you understand and appreciate his music interest. You could give your guy an engraved MP3 player, such as Apple's iPod. Their website offers many color options and free engraving. Once you receive the personalized MP3 player, load it up with his favorite music and a special Valentine's Day play list. If your budget doesn't include room for expensive electronics, make him a mix CD. You could put your Valentine's Day play list on the CD, or you could mix up your selection by including his favorite songs among your love-song picks.
Unique Gifts for His Room
Enhance his personal space with a custom-made gift from you. Decorate a picture frame and place a photo of the two of you together inside the frame. Write an inscription on the back. If you aren't close enough with him to have a photo of both of you together, frame an image related to his interests, such as a space or nature scene. Or find an old, scratched-up and unplayable record by an artist he enjoys. Use clockworks, which you can find inexpensively in craft stores, to turn the record into a unique clock. You could also make him a record bowl. Place the record over an upside-down heat-safe bowl and put both objects on a cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet inside a preheated, 200 degree oven for 10 minutes. When you remove the cookie sheet, grab the record and bowl with oven-mitt-covered hands. Turn the bowl onto its base and place the record inside. Before removing your finished record bowl, allow both to cool completely.
DIY Valentine Card
No valentine is more unique than a gift handmade and customized for its recipient. Use doilies, glitter and an assortment of letter stickers or stencils to create a valentine for your boyfriend. You could write a poem, song lyrics or a special quote on the back. A haiku is easy to write, if you want to write something original. Format your haiku poem so the first and third lines are five syllables, and the second line is seven. On the front of your DIY valentine, draw a cartoon image of you and him, or anything else that reminds you of the two of you together. Keep him in mind during the valentine creation process. If he has a favorite sports team, use the team colors as your color scheme, for example, or you could glue a picture of his head on the cover on top of his favorite superhero's body.
