Treasure Hunt Games For Girls

When looking for something for girls to do, consider creating a few treasure hunt games for them to play. You can create treasure hunts specifically for a group of girls by incorporating traditionally girly items into the games. Whether it is for a pirate party or just a few girls wanting to find treasure, these games can keep the girls busy indoors and outdoors for hours of fun.

Sand Treasure Hunt

Fill a large plastic swimming pool with play sand and several girly prizes, such as costume jewelry, small plastic dolls, lip gloss, pens and small notepads. Wrap the items in plastic wrap before burying them to keep them from getting sand all over them. Give each girl a small favor bag. Have the girls hunt for treasure in the sandbox. Award the girl who finds the most items another prize on top of all the treasures she found to take home.

String Hunt

Use small pink, purple and white yarn balls to create a string treasure hunt for the girls. Create enough yarn strings so that each girl has one to hunt. Take long strings of yarn and wrap them over and under furniture, up and down hallways and around rooms. Be sure you have a separate piece of yarn for each player. Tie girl-themed prizes, such as a movie, an arts and craft kit, jewelry and hair accessories, to the end of each string. Have each girl find the starting end of the yarn. When everyone has an end, tell the girls to follow the string to find their prize.

Water Hunt

If the girls can swim and you have a pool, create a treasure hunt in the swimming pool using coins. You can also play this game with a medium to large size inflatable pool. Have all the girls stand with their backs to the pool and toss in several coins. When you say, Go, the girls jump in the pool and begin collecting the coins. The player with the most coins wins the game and a prize. If you use different coins, you can also award a prize to the guest who has the highest value of coins. Award the girls with prizes like a gift certificate to a nail salon to get a manicure or a gift card to a local salon for a haircut.

Clue Hunt

Have all the girls use clues to find one large prize for all of them to share. Write clues like The first place you want to look is somewhere water runs and people get clean, which would be the bathroom. Hide another clue in the bathroom that says, The next clue is somewhere leaves might fall, which is underneath a tree outside or just somewhere in the yard. Hide a large basket of fingernail polish, files and nail art at the final destination. The girls can use the basket of goodies to give each other manicures and pedicures. This game is perfect for a girl sleepover.
