Change Lightbulbs On A Ford Ranger

Driving your Ford Ranger with malfunctioning lights is very dangerous.

The lights on your Ford Ranger make your drive a safer experience. They alert other drivers to the location of your vehicle as well as when you are going to stop or turn. If any of the exterior lights on your Ford Ranger go out, they should be replaced as soon as possible in order to help ensure your safety while driving. As each lamp uses a different bulb, you should check to see the type of bulb you will need for the lamp you are going to repair before beginning the process.

Instructions

Replacing Headlamp Bulbs

1. Park the Ranger and turn the headlamp switch to the off position. Open the hood. Remove the screws and cover from above the headlamp assembly.

2. Pry up the two retaining pins at the rear of the headlamp assembly to release the assembly. Pull the headlamp assembly away from the Ranger and disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb by pulling it rearward. Remove the bulb retaining ring by rotating it counterclockwise and slide the ring off the plastic base of the bulb.

3. Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out of the headlamp assembly and use a clean cloth to push a new bulb into the headlamp assembly. Make sure to only use 9007 type bulbs.

4. Reattach the bulb retaining ring and rotate it clockwise to secure. Plug the electrical connector into the rear of the assembly and place the assembly back into the vehicle.
