Doityourself Uncontested Divorce In Hillsborough County Florida

An uncontested divorce makes a bad situation a little easier.


Divorce is much easier when the spouse is not contesting it. There is usually less paperwork and many times you can be granted your divorce much quicker than if you and your spouse are fighting over issues. You can file for an uncontested divorce on your own in Hillsborough County, Florida as long as you have been a resident of Florida for at least 6 months.


Instructions


1. Print off the Dissolution of Marriage Packet provided in the reference section at the end of this article. This packet is designed for couples who have no children and assets together or your children are over the age of eighteen. If this is not the correct packet click on the Online Forms link below; then click on the link for Family Law on the Hillsborough County Circuit Court website. They have many other packets available depending on your situation.


2. Fill out the cover sheet, petition for dissolution of marriage, financial affidavit, and notice of Social Security number forms. You must also fill out a disclosure form and provide proof that you have been a resident of Florida for 6 months. Have your spouse fill out the answer and waiver, Social Security number form, and financial affidavit. Notarize the forms that show a notary signature line at the bottom of the page and make two copies of each form filled out by both of you.


3. Call the clerk at (813) 276-8100 extension 4358. Prior to filing your paper work you will need to know how much the filing fee is. The clerk can provide you with the amount. File your original divorce papers with the Clerk of Circuit Court, Family Law 1st Floor, Room 101 George E. Edgecomb Courthouse, 800 Twiggs Street, Tampa, FL 33602. The court's hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attend the final hearing as scheduled by the Hillsborough County Court.
