Clean Filters On A Bissell Powerforce Bagless Vacuum

Regular maintenance and care is important to prolong the life of any vacuum cleaner. When the filters get clogged with dust, dirt and debris, it's time to clean them out and restore the vacuum to proper working conditions. With the Bissell PowerForce Bagless vacuum, cleaning the filters is a task that should be done at least once a month, and more often if you have new carpet or allergy issues in the home.

Instructions

1. Unplug the vacuum before performing any maintenance on it.

2. Take out the dirt container to access the inner and outer circular filters. To remove the dirt container, look for the clear plastic holder in the center of the vacuum's body. Underneath the container is a Lock 'n Seal lever. Move the lever from Lock to Unlock. This releases the catch on the dirt container. Grab the dirt container by the grooves and pull it out firmly.

3. Remove the filter cup from the dirt container. Attached to the bottom of the dirt container is the filter cup. It looks like it is the solid base of the dirt container. Notice the finger grooves at the bottom of the filter cup. Grab these and twist counterclockwise. The filter cup should separate from the dirt container.

4. Inside the filter cup are the circular filters. Just twist to unlock and pull the circular filter straight up. The filters look like a hollow wheel, with a spongy covering.

5. Separate the spongy circular outer filter from the inner filter by gently pulling them apart. Wash both filters by hand in warm water, adding a drop or two of mild dish detergent if needed.

6. Rinse the inner and outer circular filters well before reassembling them and returning them to the filter cup. Reattach the filter cup by twisting it to the bottom of the dirt container, and replacing the dirt container.

Tips Warnings

Do this cleaning in the evening and let the filters dry overnight. They'll be ready by morning.

Never put the filters back in the vacuum if they are wet or damp. The must be completely dry.
