In addition to entertainment, there are a multitude of colleges in Henderson or Las Vegas, NV, where students can study disciplines ranging from fashion to culinary arts. University of Southern Nevada


Originally the Nevada College of Pharmacy, the University of Southern Nevada is now a non-profit, private and independent university since 2001 that focuses on training students for careers in health care. In contrast to most institutions of higher learning that require students to take various courses within a semester, the University of Southern Nevada uses a block system where students take only one class at a time for six hours a day. The student is able to focus entirely on that subject, master it, then move on to the next block. In addition to the College of Pharmacy, a College of Nursing and College of Dental Medicine offer advanced degrees from a Bachelors of Science in Nursing to a Doctor of Dental Medicine as well as a Master of Business Administration.


College of Southern Nevada


The College of Southern Nevada, founded in 1971, boasts three campuses which serve students in the Henderson, NV region. More then 2,800 staff help educate the 43,000 students who look to the College of Southern Nevada for one of its 120 fields of study, including 25 that can be completed on-line. Although it is the state's largest college, the College of Southern Nevada still maintains small class sizes. Their Division of Workforce and Economic Development works with local businesses to offer non-credit courses to employees and increase productivity in the local economy.


Nevada State College


Nevada State College was founded in 2002, and is Nevada's first four-year public college. Currently over 2,000 students attend classes on the main campus or satellite campus in Henderson. With an average class size of 15, Nevada State College provides a more intimate setting to study one of the 35 majors available. The School of Education, School of Nursing and School of Liberal Arts and Sciences are all part of Nevada State College and are ready to meet your needs.


Art Institute of Las Vegas


Since 1983, the Interior Design Institute educated budding interior design students until it became the Art Institute of Las Vegas in 2001. With over 45 Art Institutes across North America, the Art Institute of Las Vegas is part of a growing network that offers programs in media arts, fashion, culinary arts and design. More than 75 faculty members teach students across its 59,000-square-feet of classroom and hands-on laboratories. An Associates of Science are available in three different disciples and a Bachelors of Arts or Science in 12 other studies.


Touro University Nevada


Touro University Nevada is part of the Touro University network and opened its Nevada doors in 2004 as a non-profit, private institution aimed at the education of local health care professionals. Over 1,500 students yearly take courses in various allied health sciences. In addition to the university, a full-service patient health clinic is available on-site and staffed by practicing faculty members, as well as a Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Programs include nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physicians assistant, education and doctor of osteopathy that are completed either in the College of Osteopathic Medicine or the College of Health and Human Services.


University of Nevada, Las Vegas


The University of Nevada, Las Vegas has been educating students since 1957 where it began as a small college and has now become an urban research institute. Both graduate and undergraduate degrees are available to the more than 22,000 students registered annually. Courses can be completed in one of their 15 divisions which include business, allied health services, engineering or hotel administration. Research and graduate studies are available for students looking to advance their degree or career. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas also offers a program for older students through the Academic 62+ Program which enables seniors to take various academic classes tuition-free.
