Dress for a Radiology Job
Working in radiology is a great career. With the baby boomer generation aging, the amount of people needed to work in health care will continue to boom as well. If you have recently gotten a job in radiology and aren't quite sure how you need to dress, here are a few tips to help you out!
Instructions
1. Buy specific work clothes. Working in a radiology is a fairly neat job, meaning unlike working in the kitchen of a restaurant, your clothes should stay in fairly good condition. But since you will be handling and assisting patients, it's always a good idea to have a separate wardrobe.
2. Wear comfortable clothes. Since you'll be moving around quite a bit, it's important to wear something comfortable. Some hospitals or medical offices have dress codes when it comes to radiology jobs. Obviously be sure to check those restrictions first. Some radiologists wear nursing clothes or scrubs while others prefer to wear casual attire. Really it's up to you, as long as you feel comfortable and appear presentable.
3. Purchase comfortable shoes! This is the most important part of dress for a radiology job. You will be on your feet for a large portion of the day; it is imperative that you make sure you are comfortable. If you invest in nothing else, invest in a great pair of comfortable sneakers that will support your arches and make you feel like you are walking on air. It will make your job much more pleasant to do!
4. Keep an extra set of clothes on hand. Because you will be assisting people who have wounds or are ill, it may be best to keep an extra change of clothes in the car. While no one intends for them to happen, accidents do happen. Many patients who are very sick can no longer control their faculties. While this will most likely be a rare occurrence, it's better to be prepared than not!
