Scheduling a physical at a VA hospital isn't hard if you are enrolled in the system.
Getting a physical exam through the military is nothing unusual. In fact, there are several kinds of physicals that military members are required to get throughout their careers. Once someone separates from the service and moves into the Department of Veteran Affairs, or VA, health-care network, a physical might be required now and then to establish the overall health of an individual or to determine eligibility for certain medical treatments, compensations and pensions. Whatever the reason, scheduling your VA physical shouldn't be difficult if you know get in the system and make an appointment.
Instructions
1. Fill out form "10-10EZ," or application for health benefits form. Complete the form online through the VA website, or mail, fax or deliver a paper copy of the form in person to your nearest VA medical Center. Attach a copy of your discharge paperwork to the application.
2. Wait to receive a confirmation letter from the VA saying that you have been accepted and enrolled in the VA health-care system. This can take anywhere from two to eight weeks.
3. Call your local VA medical center and ask to set up an appointment for a physical exam. Prepare to give your name, the last four numbers of your Social Security number and your birthday to make an appointment. Tell the VA what kind of physical you need and why.
