Depotest 250 Side Effects

Depotest is an injectable solution of the male hormone testosterone in the form testosterone cypionate. Also available as Depo-Testosterone and other brands, it has several medical uses, and some people take it off-label to improve athletic ability. Testosterone cypionate is available in various dosages including 250 mg/mL. Many side effects are possible.

Medical Uses

Testosterone injections are prescribed for men and boys deficient in this hormone to treat disorders such as delayed puberty and erectile dysfunction. Doctors also prescribe testosterone to women for treating breast cancer that has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized).

Male Side Effects

In men, the most common Depotest side effects include anxiety, depression, headache, numb or tingling sensations, and breast enlargement.

Female Side Effects

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take Depotest because it causes severe birth defects. In women, testosterone injections can lead to acne, menstrual changes, hair growth on the chin or chest, scalp hair loss and changes in sex drive.

Contraindications

People with certain health conditions may not be able to safely take Depotest. These include benign prostatic hypertrophy, male breast cancer, bleeding disorders, high cholesterol, or liver, kidney or cardiovascular disease.

Serious Side Effects

Serious but uncommon side effects include an allergic reaction, bone pain, liver dysfunction, high blood sugar, rapid weight gain, and confusion or memory problems. Anyone taking this drug for non-medical purposes must consider the health risks.
