Mastectomy Support Groups

Mastectomy can have a large role in the treatment of breast cancer patients.

Having a support group to help you through any difficult or traumatic period in your life is always a good idea, whether it's because of a death, divorce or illness. Undergoing mastectomy, and facing breast cancer and its treatment are traumatic not only for the person battling the disease, but for family and close friends as well. A good support group can help the patient and also those who are close to her. It is easy to find mastectomy groups in your area or even online, and these groups can help you or your loved one get through a very difficult time.

Monarch Butterfly

The online Monarch Butterfly group, hosted by Gather.com is a welcoming support group of individuals who will gladly help you through the trauma of a mastectomy and breast cancer. The group was founded in August of 2006 by a cancer survivor who had undergone mastectomy. Many members can relate to patients who have had a single or double mastectomy. Members of Monarch Butterfly are encouraged to talk about their story, speak with other members about their battles, upload pictures and generally share their experiences.
