What Age Should Development Of Breast Buds Start

Breast size is usually hereditary.

Many young women experience concerns about breast development as they grow up. While males undergo puberty during their early teens, girls can experience it as early as 6 years of age.

Breast Development and Puberty

Puberty is a process in which a person becomes sexually mature. Girls typically start hitting puberty by the time they turn 11, although puberty can start earlier or later as well. In females, the first sign of puberty is usually growth in breast size.

Delayed Puberty

Delayed puberty occurs when there is no obvious sign of breast tissue growth by the time a girl becomes 14. Delayed puberty can be caused by malnutrition, although a medical reason is sometimes unclear.

Time Frame

Breasts typically grow for around four years after a girl experiences her first period. Many women complete puberty by the age of 14. By 17 or 18 you should be done growing and will know the size of your breasts.
