Xray Technician School Programs

X-ray technicians produce x-ray images for diagnostic purposes.


X-ray technicians, also known as radiographers or radiologic technicians, are medical professionals trained to produce x-ray films (radiographs), for the diagnosis of medical problems. X-ray technicians also are responsible for radiation safety, so that unnecessary parts of the body are not exposed to potentially harmful radiation.


The Academy of Health Care Professions


The Academy of Health Care Professions offers radiologic technologist training in Austin, San Antonio and Houston, Texas. This limited medical radiologic technologist program covers topics in medical foundations, radiographic science and radiographic examination. Courses include medical terminology, radiographic terminology, introduction to radiology, radiographic physics and imaging equipment and maintenance.

Rochester Community and Technical College


Rochester Community and Technical College offers a radiography, or x-ray technology program that is designed to be completed in 24 months, with classes beginning in the fall semester of each year. Students begin by completing the general education courses, in the first two semesters and clinical training, which is completed at the Mayo campus, for the last two semesters.

Keiser University


Keiser University has an associate of science degree-program in radiologic technology, which teaches students the fundamentals and skills needed for entry-level positions in the field. Students learn produce radiographic images that are in accordance with standardized procedures and practices. Required courses in this program include introduction to radiologic technology, radiologic sciences, radiologic procedures, medical science and advanced radiological imaging. Other course topics cover medical terminology, radiation protection, image production and patient care.

Modern Technology School


Modern Technology School has an x-ray technician/medical assistant program that teaches students the principles of medical terminology, radiography, radiation protection, anatomy and physiology, x-ray physics and x-ray positioning. Courses in this program include x-ray technology, sensory systems, basic medical skills and vital signs, specialized chest radiography, principles of surgery and surgical asepsis, digital radiography and radiological physics.
