Ohio Grants For Home Insulation

Homeowners in Ohio may be eligible for insulation grants.


Insulating a house can make a home more energy-efficient and lower heating and cooling bills. Some states offer grants to homeowners who can't afford the cost of insulation. There are several ways to obtain Ohio grants for home insulation. Does this Spark an idea?


Federally Funded


Ohio receives federal funding for the Home Weatherization Assistance Program, or HWAP. The program is designed to improve energy efficiency and does this by helping homeowners improving the condition of their houses. Grant money can be used for the insulation for walls, basements and attics. Ohio's Community Housing Improvement Program is also federally funded. Money from this program can be used for home insulation.


State Funded


Financed through a Universal Service Fund, Ohio's Electric Partnership Program makes grants to help lower high electricity use. One component of the program is weatherization. Homeowners can have insulation installed to lower electrical usage and costs.


Getting Grants


Ohio grants for home insulation are mainly for low-income households, although some are open to middle-income households. Some programs are handled through the state, but most are handled through city and county governments.
