Education grants are offered by Dell organizations.
Dell Corporation is one of the world's leading computer and technology businesses. According to Dell's web site, the company's "commitment to social responsibility is about making a meaningful difference and seeking innovative ways to help others through our technology, resources and employees ... to address key issues facing our world." Educational grants and scholarships are provided through the corporation, the U.S. Dell Foundation and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.
Dell Scholars Program
Dell offers grants to K-12 and higher education institutions.
The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation provides scholarships through the Dell Scholars Program. Underserved (first generation, low-income, ethnically diverse) students can receive $20,000 to continue their higher education up to six years. Most scholars are first generation students who participate in an approved college readiness program. They must maintain at least a 2.4 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Many of these students are managing responsibilities at home. They must also demonstrate financial need. The Dell Scholars Program also provides students with needed technology, resources and mentoring to ensure that they have the tools they need to achieve a college education.
Students must apply online for the scholarship. The site is located at: http://www.dellscholars.org/public/Students.aspx

General Grant Programs -- Targeting Children Living in Urban Poverty
Grants target underserved students from age 0 to 17.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation's primary goal is to fund programs that directly serve the needs of children living in urban poverty. The foundation is currently accepting unsolicited proposals in these priority areas: education, health and microfinance programs. Example of awarded grants include performance management in leadership grants in K-12 educational institutions, charter school grants and primary education grants targeting early childhood development.
All grant requests must be submitted using the online form located at:

Equipping Youth Grants -- Connected Communities
Institutional grants and individual scholarships are available.
The Dell Foundation targets grant funding that will provide youth with needed technology for education purposes. According to the foundation, requests should address at least one of the following priorities:
1. Hands-on technology access with Internet integration for children and families with limited resources
2. Online community services and support for children and families with limited resources
3. Training programs designed to help children learn use the Internet
4. Access and involvement in Web-based communities for those with historically limited access
In addition, the proposal should include outcomes, and describe how the outcomes will be measured.
According to the Dell Foundation, "the grants offer direct financial assistance to nonprofit organizations and programs that empower youth to learn and excel in a digitally driven economy." The grants support a broad range of programs that provide funding for children age 17 years and younger in locations that have Dell facilities. Programs must be a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and in specific areas in Illinois, Texas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
Grants are also awarded to empower communities to provide quality education to youth. Targeted areas include math, science and literacy. In addition, the Dell Foundation provides General Educational Development (GED) and Literacy Program to provide youth with educational resources required for employment.

Dell strives to provide education and economic equality for all students.
According to the Dell Foundation, the Literate Communities grant program provides funds for effective and strategic community partnerships. The primary focus is success in the digital world. The Dell Foundation supports educational and literacy programs that help meet basic educational needs in Dell communities (in specific areas in Illinois, Texas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Tennessee).
Every two years, the Dell Foundation solicits competitive applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The total amount of the grants is $50,000. Grant information and an online application is available at this site: http://content.dell.com/us/en/corp/d/corp-comm/literate-comm.aspx
Dell Foundation -- Open Grants
Providing youth with technology is a priority for Dell foundations.
The Dell Foundation provides open grants to programs and services that are outside of the timeline and scope of the Equipping Youth Grant programs. Open grants are for support (financial, volunteer or in-kind) and are for $10,000 or less. These grants serve populations in Dell principal U.S. locations in Illinois, Texas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
All applications must be submitted online. For more information or to submit a grant, visit this website: http://content.dell.com/us/en/corp/d/corp-comm/open-grants.aspx
