St. Petersburg College has a medical technology program that leads to the completion of an Associate of Science degree. This program is designed with the working adult in mind and is delivered online---only requiring students to attend the clinical requirements. The program at this school can be completed in two years on a full-time schedule, and most part-time students complete the program in three years. Courses include introduction to clinical laboratory science, clinical chemistry laboratory, phlebotomy clinical experience and clinical microbiology.

Armstrong Atlanta State University


Armstrong Atlantic State University's College of Health Professions has a medical technology program that leads to the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree. One of the two available tracks for completion is the online ladder track; the other track is the traditional format delivered in the classroom setting. The online option is available to current technicians who are seeking to advance his or her education. Courses include clinical hematology, urinalysis, clinical methodologies, clinical pathways and lab management and education.

Allied Health Institute


Allied Health Institute offers an online electrocardiograph (EKG) technician program that is designed to train the entry-level technician for work in both inpatient and outpatient medical settings. The program can be completed in six months, and the courses are broken into several modules. In addition to the courses that are required, students must also complete clinical training in a face-to-face environment. Topics covered in this program are electrophysiology; cardiovascular drugs; basic cardiovascular anatomy and physiology; and medical legal and ethical guidelines and requirements.

Auburn University at Montgomery has an online program in medical technology that prepares students to enter into the health field as an integral member of the team. This program teaches students the knowledge and skills behind working as a medical technician which includes analyzing body fluids, cells and tissues. The online option is for certified medical/clinical lab technicians who have prior experience in a clinical laboratory. Courses include principles of biology, applied organic chemistry, lab techniques, clinical hematology, perspectives in clinical laboratory science and clinical microbiology.
