Network To Get A Radiology Job

Radiology is a career field that is exploding right now. However, as the popularity of radiology professions increases, so does the competition for radiology jobs. If you are looking for a job in this field, then you must network in order to get the radiology job of your dreams.

Instructions

1. Create a list of everyone that you know who already works in the field of radiology or who works in a medical profession. When creating this list you should include family members, friends, colleagues, classmates and people who you go to for medical care. Use this list to network with your connections to get a radiology job.

2. Ask your primary care physician if they can provide you with a lead on a radiology job, or if they have a radiology position that you qualify for.

3. Network with your school's career advisers to find leads for a radiology job. Usually when you complete a radiology program at a community college or a university, they can offer job placement services to their graduates. This is a great job search tool that you should take advantage of.

4. Connect with radiology associations and professional organizations to network yourself to get a radiology job. Some of the professional organizations that you may want to join include: the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, American Radium Society, American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Society of Neuroradiology.

5. Browse your radiology industry journals and publications for job postings. Networking your educational and professional development materials is a great way to either find job openings or to identify companies that you would like to contact about job opportunities. Some of the radiology journals that you can browse through include: Abdominal Imaging, British Journal of Radiology and Imaging Journal.

6. Contact radiology equipment or medical imaging organizations to see if they have any openings. If you can, network with a current employee of that company to get a referral to the personnel department. If you don't know a person at a company that you want to work for then you need to find a way to introduce yourself to someone in an influential position. You can meet with someone in the sales department, you can request a meeting with the personnel manager or you can look for public demonstrations offered by the company and introduce yourself during the Q&A session. Some of the companies that you may want to target for radiology jobs include: Agilent Technologies, Auntminnie, Barco NV, Cook Medical and Planmed.
