Community Colleges In Wichita & Hutchinson Kansas

Located on the Arkansas River, Wichita, Kansas, was officially incorporated in 1870. Wichita owes its initial success to trade with the area's native tribes. Over the years, Wichita grew as a Midwest business center. Thirty-nine miles northwest of Wichita, following the Arkansas River, is Hutchinson, which hosts the Kansas State Fair every year. Both cities are home to community colleges and other educational institutions of higher learning.


Butler Community College


One of two community colleges in the greater Wichita area is Butler Community College, which is an accredited two-year college. Its main campus is in El Dorado, Kansas, and was founded in 1927. Butler offers many academic programs, including accounting, architecture, auto collision repair, chemistry, history, manufacturing engineering, mathematics, music, political science, social science, surveying technology, theater and welding technology. It has an online application for admission and an online application for financial aid. Grants, scholarships, loans and veterans assistance are all offered through the financial aid office. In addition to its main campus, Butler Community College also has Kansas campuses in Andover, Rose Hill, McConnell, Marion and Council Grove.


Cowley County Community College


Cowley County Community College Is located in Arkansas City with a satellite facility in Wichita. Other campuses include Winfield, Wellington and Mulvane. Cowley offers more than 60 programs of study, with the following degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and Associate of General Studies. At an enrollment of 4,500 students, it is less than half the size of Butler Community College. Cowley also offers many online services through its website, including admissions application and financial aid information.

Also located in the greater Wichita area are Bethel College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Friends University, Heritage College, ITT Technical Institute, Newman University, Southwestern College, Tabor College, University of Kansas School of Medicine, University of Phoenix, Vatterott College, Wichita State University, Wichita Technical Institute and Webster University.


Hutchinson Community College


Hutchinson Community College is the only two-year college in Hutchinson. Hutchinson offers an online admissions application and an online financial aid application. A robust and comprehensive financial aid program is available, including grants, scholarships, loans and veterans assistance. Many courses of study are available through several departments, including the Allied Health Department; Language, Literature and Communication Department; Business, Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences Department; Computer and Industrial Technology Department; Natural Science and Mathematics Department; Public Safety Department; Social Science Department; and Fine Arts Department. The DragonZone is a program at Hutchinson that offers a forum for the exchange of campus and school information.
