Lyme disease is a bacterial illness caused by bites from infected ticks. The condition is caused by a bacterium called a spirochete, which is usually carried by deer ticks. The bacteria is spread by these ticks biting the skin of humans and animals. Apple cider vinegar is one of several natural cures used in treating Lyme disease.
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease can cause skin abnormalities, joint problems, heart problems and problems with the nervous system. The signs and symptoms vary, depending on the degree of infection. At the site where you were bitten, you usually develop a rash and a mark that resembles a red ring. This may clear up on its own; however, as the infection spreads, your rash can persist and you may have flu-like symptoms. If this condition is not treated, you can develop inflammation of the heart, abnormal heart rhythms and eventually heart failure.
Along with antibiotics, there are natural remedies such as apple cider vinegar that can help treat Lyme disease.
Other Cures for Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is curable, and is usually treated with antibiotics. One symptom ---swollen joints---can be relieved using pain relievers or anti-inflammatory medications. If you develop or suffer from neurological or cardiac problems, you may need intravenous medications. However, before the condition advances and you have to resort to severe measures, consider using apple cider vinegar to treat your symptoms.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Lyme Disease
Apple cider vinegar is a common home remedy for many ailments. Apple cider vinegar is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic, capable of fighting germs, bacteria and viruses.
There are many ways to use apple cider vinegar. You can make hot or cold compresses to help alleviate the pain from the tick bites. To alleviate and soothe the skin, apply the vinegar directly to your skin, using a cotton swab or washcloth.
Additionally, as Lyme disease can travel throughout your body, apple cider vinegar can be used as a detoxifying remedy. By drinking apple cider vinegar on a regular basis for up to two weeks, you can rid your body of unwanted toxins. A common dosage of apple cider vinegar is 2 tsp. mixed into 1 cup of water or juice, taken twice daily. There are also supplements available with a common dose of 285mg, but drinking the vinegar in its pure state is best for fighting off Lyme disease and other infections.
