Vocational Technical Schools In Georgia

The state of Georgia is home to a number of vocational and technical schools. These schools offer certificate, diploma and associate degree programs in such areas as healthcare, computer science and construction. Many of Georgia's vocational technical schools also provide financial aid services to help students afford the cost of tuition.


Westwood College


Westwood College is a private institution with locations throughout the United States, including a campus in Atlanta. Among the school's offerings are programs in animation, video game design, information technology, accounting, healthcare management, construction management, medical assisting and criminal justice. For convenience, a number of courses are offered online. The school's career services office helps students develop resumes and find employment after graduation. There are also a number of student groups on campus, as well as federal grant and loan programs.

Augusta Technical College


Established in 1961, Augusta Technical College is a public vocational training school. In addition to its main campus in Augusta, classes are held at branches in Thomson and Waynesboro. The school offers certificate and associate degree programs in air conditioning technology, auto repair, cosmetology, culinary arts, machining, electronics, fire science, golf course management, medical coding, occupational therapy assisting and welding. Academic and career advising is available, as well as federal and state financial aid assistance and internship opportunities.

Medix School


Medix School is a private technical college located in Smyrna, a suburb 15 miles northwest of Atlanta. Among the programs offered at the school are medical assisting, billing and coding, dental assisting and hygiene, emergency medicine, pharmacy technology, welding, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning. Some programs require short internships as part of the course requirements. Resume writing, interview preparation and job search assistance are available, as is state and federal financial aid for eligible students.

Savannah Technical College


Founded in 1929, Savannah Technical College is a public technical school with campuses in Savannah, Hinesville, Rincon and Fort Stewart. Students can choose from more than 50 academic programs, including historic preservation, industrial systems, aircraft structural technology, drafting, practical nursing, concrete forming, website administration and cabinetmaking. For students who need extra support, the school has a writing center and tutoring services. More than 20 student organizations are located on campus, and financial aid programs are available as well.
