Movie screening parties are easy to host, especially if you have an oversized TV, a high-resolution DVD player and a 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound system. State-of-the-art equipment is a plus, but hosting a film showing party is really all about giving your guests a movie watching environment they can be comfortable in. Here are some tips for making your movie screening party a fun night at home. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Gather as many seats as possible in front of the TV. If you know how many people are coming to the party, you'll know if you need to borrow or rent additional chairs. Throwing pillows on the floor can also be a seating option.
2. Provide pillows, cushions, throws and blankets for added comfort.
3. Provide TV trays or side tables where viewers can set down their drinks and snacks. Don't forget coasters and napkins.
4. Make the viewing room sufficiently dark. Movie screening parties are best held at night, but if it needs to start in the daytime when there is still light outside, hang thick curtains that can make the room dark enough for good viewing.
5. Prepare handy food containers. Movie watching is not complete without popcorn. Be ready with a lot of bowls, paper bags or other containers for popcorn, chips, crackers, veggie dips and other snacks. Viewers should be able to carry their favorite snacks with them to their seats.
6. Consider serving food and dishes other than snacks, especially if the movie screening is expected to extend beyond two hours. If there is a slight chance your party will turn into a movie marathon, be ready with "real" food that can be served in between screenings.
7. Prepare for sleepovers. Movie watching with friends, especially in the comforts of home, can easily become a marathon that lasts all night and into the morning. Be ready to let guests sleep in, like those who have no designated drivers.
