Ultrasound technology programs teach students use ultrasound equipment to provide images with diagnostic information, which helps a physician determine a patient's treatment. Graduates of an ultrasound program typically work in hospitals, doctors' offices or health clinics. Several schools with ultrasound technology programs are located in Massachusetts, mostly in and around Boston.
Springfield Technical Community College
Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is located in south-central Massachusetts in Springfield, one of the largest cities in the state. The sonography program at STCC prepares students for a career in ultrasound technology in the abdominal and OB/GYN specialties. Admissions for this program is competitive, two-year program. All classes are held during the day, with no option for night, weekend or part-time class schedules. Graduates of this STCC program receive an Associate of Science degree in diagnostic medical sonography. Upon completion of the program, students can apply for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (A.R.D.M.S.) general credentialing exams and the specialty exams in abdominal and OB/GYN ultrasounds.
