Become A Cat Scan Technician

A CAT scan is a type of X-ray machine that allows doctors to see 3-D images of patients' organs, bones, and circulation systems. A CAT scan technician is a medical professional trained to operate the machine. He makes sure the image is clear and can easily be used by the doctor to diagnose the patient. As radiologic technicians, CAT scan technicians are required to complete specific educational requirements (see Reference 1).


Instructions


1. Find out your state's requirements for becoming a CAT scan technician.


2. Enroll in a relevant vocational training program at a university or community college, depending on your state's requirements and your career goals. This may involve receiving an associate's degree or bachelor's degree (see Reference 1).


3. Contact the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and apply for certification and registration (see Reference 1).


4. Reapply for certification throughout your career as your state or employer requires (see Reference 1).
