What Is Asrt Category A

The American Society of Radiological Technologists provides information for the continuing education requirements for the re-certification of members of the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Since 1995 ARRT has required continuing education credits for its members to complete the re-certification process.

Category A

Category A is one of three categories of continuing education approved by the ARRT, along with categories A+ and B. Category A continuing education credits are approved and evaluated by a recognized continuing education evaluation mechanism.

Options

To earn category A continuing education credits, radiological technologists have a number of options including the writing of a textbook based on a radiological subject or writing a chapter in a textbook. Continuing education courses in subjects associated with radiological sciences with a passing grade can also be taken, along with CPR certification from organizations such as the American Red Cross.

Credits

To obtain re-certification to the American Society of Radiological Technologists, a member must earn 24 continuing education credits between each re-certification period. Re-certification must be completed at the end of a two-year period, with continuing education credits checked randomly by ARRT.
