Texas' radiology programs have varying admission standards.
The state of Texas is home to a number of large universities, offering a wide range of educational opportunities. Radiologists conduct and interpret x-rays, scans, and other tests that determine a patient's internal condition. For individuals in search of radiology programs in Texas, there are a number of options.
Baylor College of Medicine
Established in 1845, Baylor College of Medicine was ranked among the Best Graduate Schools as of 2011 by U.S. News & World Report. The college appeared 24th in the field of research and 33rd in primary care. Baylor College of Medicine provides training for budding medical students, residents, and fellowship participants. Medical students learn radiology in the first, second, and fourth years, and may choose various specialty electives, including diagnostic and pediatric radiology, and research. Residency options include radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and diagnostic radiology. Students seeking fellowships may do so in body imaging, neuroradiology, and pediatric radiology, amongst others. The college holds associations with eight hospitals, including The Menninger Clinic, The Methodist Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital.

Houston Community College
Houston Community College has six campuses: Central, Coleman, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest, in addition to a distance learning option. The college offers a radiography program for those who meet the character assessment required by the program faculty. Potential students must be able to demonstrate college-level literacy, prove physical fitness and good hygiene, in addition to other college and departmental requirements. The program begins in the summer and is offered during the daytime only. Students take clinical instruction at one of 10 hospitals, including St. Joseph Hospital, Shriners Hospital, and West Houston Medical Center.

Texas Tech University Health Science Center - El Paso
Texas Tech University was founded in 1923, with the Health Science Center's radiology program established in 2008. The department offers training for residents pursuing radiology-centered training, including but not limited to diagnostic ultrasound, chest radiology, and emergency radiology. The program alternates throughout these and other specialties in order to provide familiarity with all specialties. Each specialty has its own necessary number of blocks, with a total of 52 required. Potential applicants must complete a postgraduate clinical-focused year prior to beginning the curriculum.

Lone Star College
Lone Star College offers two-year programs at eight locations: North Harris, Tomball, University Park, CyFair, Kingwood, Montgomery, Corporate College, University Center, and an option for distance learning. The Medical Radiologic Technology degree is an associate in applied science degree, offered at the CyFair and Montgomery centers. Courses include Basic Radiographic Procedures, Principles of Radiographic Imaging I, as well as clinical-based offerings. Students must take an introductory level course in Anatomy and Physiology, Biology 2404, or Biology 2401 and 2402, complete an aptitude examination, and pass the Texas Success Initiative, which assesses student literacy and math skills.
