Students enrolled in accredited ultrasound technologist training programs are eligible for certification.
Ultrasound technologist training teaches students use an ultrasound machine to scan the organs and soft tissue structures in the body for the purpose of diagnosing medical conditions. When choosing a program in Pennsylvania, individuals should opt for a school that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Accredited programs allow students to sit for their certification exam. Ultrasound technologists are also referred to as diagnostic medical sonographers.
