The Average Income Of An Ultrasound Technician In Michigan

An ultrasound technician, also referred to as a diagnostic medical sonographer, uses ultrasound equipment to create images of internal organs to help physicians diagnose patients' medical concerns. Most employers prefer ultrasound technicians who completed an accredited training program and receive certification such as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated salaries for diagnostic medical sonographers in Michigan in May 2009.


Salary


Approximately 1,730 of these professionals were in Michigan in May 2009, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Annual median wages were $56,710. The 25th percentile earned $48,650 per year and the 75th percentile earned $64,080 per year. The 10th percentile earned annual median wages of $43,470 per year and the 90th percentile earned annual median wages of $71,070 per year.


Hourly Wages


Hourly median wages were $27.26 for ultrasound technicians in Michigan. The 25th percentile earned $23.39 per hour and the 75th percentile earned $30.81 per hour. The 10th percentile earned $20.42 per hour and the 90th percentile earned $34.17 per hour.
