A dietary water pill, Diurex is meant to relieve excess bloating and eliminate water weight. Like all diuretics, Diurex can pose some potential health risks.
Types
There are eight different types of Diurex. One is geared towards men, while the other seven are designed for women, with a particular emphasis paid to menstrual and pre-menstrual bloating and water retention.
Effects
Water pills like Diurex achieve weight loss by eliminating water. This leads to excessive urination. And because so much water is lost, Diurex increases the risk of dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration include abdominal pain, confusion, fatigue, headache, increased heart rate, muscle weakness, nausea and vomiting.
Warning
Diurex contains a significant amount of caffeine, resulting in such side effects as irritability, nervousness, sleeplessness and rapid heart beat.
Potential
Some users could experience an allergic reaction to the ingredients in Diurex. Symptoms would include hives, itching, rash, and swelling of the face, mouth, or throat.
Considerations
Diurex will only shed water weight. It will not aid with genuine weight loss. Once the supplement's use is discontinued, the weight will return.
