Education Requirements
The primary admission criterion for prospective students seeking higher education at Miami-Dade College is proof of completing high school. Students interested in taking classes at one of the campuses must possess a high-school diploma or GED certificate. They may also transfer credit from another accredited college.
Vocational programs and basic continuing education courses at the college are open to all adults, regardless of high school completion or GED certification.
Application Requirements
In order to take courses at Miami-Dade College, students must complete an application for admission in person or online. The information required on this application includes residency details, and applicants must specify a major and which campus they intend to attend. Miami-Dade College offers classes at the Hialeah, Kendall, Wolfson, North, West, Medical Center, Homestead, and Inter-American campuses.
Honors College Requirements
The Honors College at Miami-Dade College offers students the opportunity to enroll in an advanced core curriculum program, with access to professionals, scholars and community leaders in a variety of fields. Students in this program must maintain a 3.5 grade point average, complete all scheduled classes, and comply with the school's Honors code.
Entrance requirements for the Honors College include a combined SAT score of 1200 or an enhanced ACT score of 26. Students without college level placement scores must show proof of a 3.7 grade point average. In addition, students applying to the honors language program must possess a Spanish SATII score of 600 or advanced placement on the college's Spanish Language or Spanish Literature test.
