Health Fair Project Ideas

Display health information at your health fair.

Through participation in a health fair, students learn about topics related to their physical well-being, and gather information about live a healthier lifestyle and avoid potentially dangerous health threats. Effective health fair projects are topical and relevant, providing viewers with information that they can apply to improve their daily life.

Which is Worse? Quiz

For your health fair, prepare an informative display to enlighten and surprise viewers. Select an assortment of foods, and place them head to head with each other in a health battle. For example, you could place soda against lemonade. Create a sheet featuring the two opponents, and place it on your display board, attaching it at the top so viewers can lift it up and see which food wins out. Under the sheet, place the answer to the question, "Which is Worse?" including nutrition information about each item featured in the match up.

Epidemic Death Statistics

While some move through life feeling as if they are immune from communicable diseases, infection epidemics have ravaged populations in the past. Make it clear how serious an epidemic can be to entice viewers to follow disease prevention precautions. Gather information on an assortment of epidemics, including a description of the disease as well as information on the estimated number of individuals who lost their lives to the illness. Create a display board featuring this information, allowing health fair visitors to see the potentially deadly implications of not protecting themselves.

Exercise Food Burn

Equate the calories burned through a variety of exercise methods to food quantities to allow health fair visitors to see the impact that exercising can have on their bottom---and waist---line. Gather information about the number of calories burned through several common types of exercises. Armed with this information, visit the grocery store and search nutrition information on the backs of foods to see just how much of each food would be burned off through that exercise method. Purchase packages of food that contain calorie contents similar to the amounts that could be burned off through completion of each exercise. Create a display board, listing the exercise and how many calories that form of exertion burns, and placing the food packaging next to it along with an explanation of how many servings of that food can be burned off with a little physical effort.
