Grants For Children Of Disabled Veterans

Grants for Children of Disabled Veterans

Veterans are respected for the service they provide to their community and their country. One of the benefits of being a child of a disabled veteran is the funding available through the government or other private foundations to assist him in his pursuits.

Air Warrior Courage Foundation

The Air Warrior Courage Foundation provides funding through several programs, including assistance or equipment for families with medical needs. It also provides funds for children of military personnel to participate in therapeutic riding activities. Financial assistance is available through Troop Support to help fund college savings accounts and material support to family members.

American Legion

The American Legion has created temporary financial assistance to help children of veterans who are deceased or disabled. Local posts provide cash assistance for shelter, food, utilities, health costs and other basic needs. Only minor children of veterans are eligible for financial assistance.

Armed Services Foundation

The Family Assistance Program provides funding for the family of current active-duty, departed or released service members. Funding can be used for rent, mortgage expenses, housing, airfare, childcare costs, car payments, insurance and registration.

Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund

The CFSRF program helps to financially support those who lost a parent in Afghanistan or Iraq. The relief fund provides funding for college grants, and the financial assistance program assists with housing, repair costs, utility bills, medical expenses, food costs, clothing, supplies for school and other expenses that are considered a financial burden.

Michigan Veterans Trust Board

The Michigan Veterans Trust Board provides funding opportunities for veterans, their families and children who need assistance as a result of their temporary crisis and financial hardship.

The Children of Veterans Tuition Grant provides funding for up to $2,800 for eligible children of military personnel who are diseased or permanently disabled. If awarded, funding is only provided for undergraduate degrees.

DeVry Grants

DeVry provides a grant, the DeVry Grant for Surviving Dependents of Rescue Workers, Civil Servants and Military Personnel. The grant provides funding for dependents of military personnel killed by injuries from the September 11 terrorist attacks. The program covers full tuition and can be applied to expenses at any DeVry institution. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal, permanent resident. To maintain a scholarship, they must have a GPA of at least 2.75 and maintain full-time status. The award amount ranges from $26,600 to $60,515.
