Scholarships For Radiologic Technology Students

Training in radiologic technology can lead to careers in medicine such as the operation of medical resonant imaging (MRI) equipment. Several scholarships are available to assist students who wish to pursue a career in radiologic technology. These scholarships are available from both national and state associations for radiologic technology.


American Society of Radiologic Technologists


The American Society of Radiologic Technologists is the leading source of nationally available scholarships intended specifically for future radiologic technicians. Several scholarships are available. The Varian Radiation Therapy Scholarship is available in the amount of $5,000. The Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship provides $4,000 of tuition assistance to students who belong to minority groups. The Jerman-Cahoon Student Scholarship is available in the amount of $2,500. In addition to these scholarships for entry-level students, the ASRT also offers scholarships to radiologic technicians who are already employed in the field and desire more training.


ISSRT Elizabeth Bray Scholarship


The Elizabeth Bray Scholarship is made available to radiologic technology students through the generosity of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists. To be eligible, a student must have been an ISSRT member at least 60 days before applying, and must have a GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. The Elizabeth Bray Scholarship is valued at $500 or more. This scholarship is awarded primarily on the basis of financial need and academic achievement.


The Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists


The Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists offers scholarship support to Missouri students seeking certification in the field. The Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists Scholarship Award, the Stephanie A. Whisler Scholarship Award, and the Robert A. Feldhaus Scholarship Award are offered every year in the amount of $700 each. To be eligible, an applicant must be a member of the MSRT, and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. a recipient may be required to repay the scholarship if he fails to complete the semester for which the scholarship was awarded.


AfterCollege/CSRT Scholarship


Members of the California Society of Radiologic Technologists may be eligible for tuition assistance through the AfterCollege/ CSRT Scholarship. Two scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $500. The annual deadline for application is October 2010. An applicant must be pursuing training in radiologic technology or a related area of study in order to be eligible for the AfterCollege/ CSRT Scholarship.
