According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), more than 600 million people and their luggage travel by air in the U.S. annually. TSA security personnel screen every passenger and their bags to ensure a safe flight for travelers and airline personnel. TSA offers security screening training to individuals in line with the Aviation and Transportation Security Act 2001.
Security Officer
One area of screening security training offered by TSA is for the expert transportation security officer-security training instructor (ETSO). These individuals are responsible screening passengers and luggage as well as training employees about federal screening standards. ETSO personnel receive training from other programs such as TSA's certified cargo screening program (CCSP).
CCSP
The certified cargo screening program (CCSP) was designed to train and certify cargo screening personnel at various cargo screening facilities throughout the United States. This program teaches personnel about the important aspects of screening security such as properly screening packages and using approved screening technology.
Facilities
Security screening isn't limited to the air industry but must be implemented across the transportation industry as a whole. Any facility such as warehouses or distribution centers that ship cargo directly or indirectly within any part of the transportation system must undergo screening training.
