Accredited Colleges In Kansas

Kansas is home to wide fields and top-ranked colleges.


Kansas is home to some of the Midwest's most popular colleges and universities. In addition to top-ranked state universities, Kansas is home to several smaller, liberal arts colleges. These private schools are often the choice of students looking for small classes, a low student-to-faculty ratio and a well-rounded education. Some smaller colleges are linked closely to churches and promote Christian values and education.


Sterling College


Sterling College, a small liberal arts college in Sterling, was founded in 1887 as Cooper College and has been delivering education with an emphasis on the Christian faith for more than 120 years. According to the its website, Sterling's mission is to "develop creative and thoughtful leaders who understand a maturing Christian faith." Sterling is accredited by the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. Students can choose from majors and minors in 15 academic departments. The school also offers a variety of men's and women's athletic teams, band and theater programs.

McPherson College


McPherson College, in McPherson, is a four-year liberal arts college that focuses on incorporating real world experiences into classroom education. According to its website, McPherson's mission is to "to develop whole persons through scholarship, participation and service." The school encourages students to participate in career-oriented activities to help prepare them for employment after graduation. The school offers course work in 18 majors, ranging from art to physical education and training. The college is accredited by the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Bethany College


Bethany College, in Lindsborg, was founded by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881. The school is still closely tied to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. According to its website, Bethany College's mission is to "educate, develop and challenge individuals to reach for truth and excellence as they lead lives of faith, learning and service." Its most popular majors are criminal justice, art, education and social work. Bethany is accredited by the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission, the Kansas Department of Education, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the National Association of Schools of Music, the Council of Social Work and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
