Maintain An Analog Answering Machine

An analog answering machine is an old fashioned type of answering machine that was used prior to the arrival of digital answering machines on the market. An analog answering machine has a tape that records the messages that people leave for you. If you do own an analog answering machine, you should maintain it in order for it to last you a very long time.

Instructions

1. Keep the manual that came with the analog answering machine handy. This way you can rely on the manual to troubleshoot any problems that you may encounter. Furthermore, the manual is likely to contain contact information for the company's customer service department.

2. Replace the answering machine tape often. Tapes that aren't replaced are going to wear out and lose sound quality. Go online to purchase replacement tapes for your answering machine.

3. Clean the exterior of the analog answering machine. To prevent a build of dirt and dust, use a cloth to wipe the machine down.

4. Use an air duster to clean the inside of the analog answering machine. These dusters can be used to rid the tape deck of any dust and debris that have built up inside while in use.

5. Buy any replacement parts from the manufacturer. If you need a new plug or switch, contact the manufacturer for a replacement instead of throwing the answering machine away.
