Find A Female Doctor

Finding a female doctor can be done by asking questions and taking notes.

Finding a new doctor may be necessary for a variety of reasons. A change in medical condition, geographical location, or insurance policy can all be factors in your decision to seek a new doctor. Finding the right doctor is a personal decision and opting for a female doctor is one of the many choices available. You can find female doctors in your area and choose the best health care provider for your needs by asking questions before making a decision.

Instructions

1. Make a list of the hospitals in your area. Note on the list which facilities are located closest to your house and highlight the hospitals that you prefer based on past experience. If you are new to the area, ask friends, colleagues, and neighbors for information on local hospital facilities.

2. Contact your health insurance company and speak to a customer service representative. Have the agent give you the names and telephone numbers of physicians in your area that accept your insurance plan. Inform the agent that you are looking only for a female doctor and request a list of names and contact information for female doctors who accept your coverage. Write down all doctors mentioned.

3. Call doctors' offices and medical practices in your area based on the list you created. Ask if they are accepting new patients and ask if a female doctor is on staff. Ask which hospital in your area the female doctor is affiliated with and make sure that it is on the list you prepared. Write down the name and location of the female doctor. Ask the receptionist or scheduler if the practice accepts your particular health insurance.

4. Verify that your health insurance coverage is accepted. Contact your insurance company and ask if the female doctor you've selected is covered under your plan.

5. Call the doctor's office several days before your scheduled appointment to verify the date and time. Verify that you will be seeing a female doctor and have the receptionist note in your file that you prefer to see a female doctor.
