Write To Women Prisoners In Georgia For Free

Prison can be tough for the inmate as well as the inmate's loved ones.

Prison can be a long and lonely experience. Letters can be encouraging and a way to communicate with a loved one. The Georgia State Correctional Department has rules and regulations regarding correspondence with inmates. There is no fee for writing inmates, just the cost of a stamp. Follow guidelines and you may correspond as much as you like. Tell stories, share life events and use humor to provide a brief escape from prison life.

Instructions

1. Read the Georgia State Department letter correspondence guidelines. These can be found in the Inmate Handbook on page 5. Visit the Georgia State Department of Corrections website. Type "Correspondence" in the website's search function to locate the inmate handbook.

2. Write the letter, following the correspondence guidelines. Share details of your life. Be upbeat and positive. A female prisoner might want to hear about her child's schooling, the latest celebrity gossip or how your relationships are going. You are allowed to write an unlimited amount of pages so give details about everything.

3. Include pictures or newspaper clippings. Again, read what is allowed and could be contraband. Violating this could result in a permanent correspondence ban. If you are unsure on what to write or include err on the side of caution.

4. Affix the proper amount of postage to your letter and mail it via the United States Post Office.
