Become an Ultrasound Technician If You Have a Bachelor Degree
Health care jobs are typically in high demand. A career in health care can be very stable because of the need for medical personal, caused by the increasing number of aging people. If you already have a bachelor's degree, you can become a medical sonographer, or ultrasound technician, in two years:
Instructions
1. You don't need a bachelor's degree in a health care related area, but you will need to have completed some academic prerequisites to be admitted to a ultrasound technician program: anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics and college algebra. You may already have some of these classes on your transcript, so the time required to finish the prerequisites required for the ultrasound technician program can be very short.
2. Take a health care concepts or similar course. This course is offered by vocational schools or community colleges, it takes only a few weeks to complete and is required as a prerequisite to ultrasound technician schools. You don't need this course if you have at least one year of patient care related work experience.
3. Complete a certificate program for ultrasound technicians. This program is usually four semesters long and can be completed in less than two years.
