Get Medical Insurance

Several factors can contribute to a lack of medical insurance: job loss; job does not offer medical insurance; low income; and expensive insurance premiums. Getting medical insurance is not an extremely difficult process, especially if you apply online.

Instructions

1. Go to the website of the insurance company of your choice. Click on the "Get a Quote" tab.

2. Enter the required information, which will include but may not be limited to your name, date of birth, gender and ZIP code. If you need to add family members, such as a spouse or a child, you will enter their information as well.

3. Proceed to the next screen, where you will be given an insurance quote. (Note that this may not be your actual premium; that is subject to change at the discretion of the insurance company.)

The medical insurance quotes will cover out-of-network and in-network providers. An out-of-network provider is a provider who is not contracted through the insurance company. An in-network provider is a qualifying provider that is contracted through the insurance company. An out-of-network quote will carry a much higher deductible (the amount you will be responsible for paying before receiving medical insurance coverage) and will have a much higher out-of-pocket maximum.

4. Apply online for the medical insurance if you are comfortable with the quoted premium, deductible and co-payment, if applicable. This will involve providing such information as your Social Security number, height, weight, age, marital status, reason for application (new enrollment, changing existing plan or adding a family member), U.S. citizenship, employer and medical history.

5. Submit the application for review and approval.
