Several colleges offer courses in ultrasound technology in New York City.
New York City has five schools that offer courses in ultrasound technology. These campuses are located in Manhattan, White Plains, Garden City, New York City and Northport. New York state does not require ultrasound technicians to acquire a license to practice, but the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography offers a certification that is recommended.
The Institute of Allied Medical Professions
The Institute of Allied Medical Professions has a campus located in central Manhattan. The campus has two classrooms and an ultrasound laboratory. A student lounge is also available for study or relaxation between classes. The Institute offers courses in diagnostic medical sonography and students may earn a diploma or an associate's degree. This college is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and the American Council on Education.
Sanford-Brown Institute White Plains
The Sanford-Brown Institute in White Plains is located on Winchester Avenue in White Plains, located on the north-eastern side of the greater New York City area. The school offers ultrasound courses in both diagnostic and cardiovascular sonography. Students can earn a certificate for less than one year, less than two years, and less than four years of study. The Sanford-Brown Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
Sanford-Brown Institute Garden City
The Sanford-Brown Institute also has a campus located on Stewart Avenue in Garden City. Garden City, New York is located in the eastern side of the greater New York City area. Sanford-Brown offers courses in cardiovascular sonography and diagnostic medical sonography. Certificates available from this college include one for less than one year, one for over one year but less than two and one for over two years but less than four years. The Garden City campus of the Sanford-Brown Institute is also accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
Sanford-Brown Institute New York
The third location for the Sanford-Brown Institute is located in New York City. The campus is located on East 16th Street in central New York City. This campus also offers certificates in diagnostic medical and cardiovascular sonography. The same certificates are offered at this campus, which is accredited by the same two accrediting agencies as the other Sanford-Brown campuses.
Wilson Tech
Wilson Tech is located in Northport, New York, east and a little north in the greater New York City area. The school offers full time course work in diagnostic medical sonography that features clinical rotations. Students may earn certificates for one year, two years, or four years of study. Wilson Tech is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology, Arts and Sciences.
