The skin of a pumpkin is the perfect canvas for pink paint.
Pink has a variety of meanings for different people and in different cultures. From representing the breast cancer cause in North America to Valentine's day around the world, pink is a well-used and well-loved color. A mixture of white and red, pink can be used in a variety of decorative ways, even coloring or highlighting pumpkins. Dress up a pumpkin in a variety of pink ways for the special person in your life who loves the color of love.
Heart-covered Pumpkin
For a simple and sweet project, cover a pumpkin in hearts to make a big globe representing love. Trim off as much of the stem as possible to create a complete globe from the pumpkin. Paint the entire pumpkin in either white or red acrylic paint. Purchase or create pink hearts. Glue them all over the pumpkin in a disorderly fashion, either writing love messages on them or leaving them plain. The paint undertone offsets and highlights the pink hearts and adds to the overall look of the pumpkin.
Breast-Cancer Pumpkin
With breast cancer becoming a major concern for North America's health care system as more women are stricken with it, there are a variety of fundraisers and charities that hold events dedicated to raising awareness and money. When hosting your own party in the fall, create a breast cancer pumpkin to raise awareness for the cause on a smaller scale. Paint the entire pumpkin pink. Allow it to dry and then pin a multitude of breast cancer awareness pins, a single loop of pink ribbon, all over the pumpkin. For a small donation, an attendee can remove one of the pins to wear.
Pink Witch Pumpkin
For a pink twist on a longstanding favorite Halloween decoration and character, create a pink witch pumpkin. Cut out two eyes and a mouth from a hollowed out pumpkin. Measure the diameter of the back of a carrot and cut the same size hole out of the pumpkin, where the nose is located. Insert the carrot. Paint the entire pumpkin and carrot with pink paint. Place a black witch's hat on the top of the pumpkin for the final touch.
Animal Print Pumpkin
Animal print is often a favorite among teen girls and young women. Do a twist on this favorite by creating a pink version of the print on a pumpkin during the Halloween season. Paint the entire pumpkin pink and allow it to dry. Paint on black or white stripes or spots to create an animal pattern on the side of the gourd. For an extra touch, place the pumpkin on a leopard or zebra print mat when presenting it.
