U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) is a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that is charged with securing the nation's borders and facilitating international trade and travel. CBP maintains a port of entry into the United States in Newark, New Jersey, that services the Newark Liberty International Airport.
CBP Locations
Of the three terminals at the Newark Liberty Airport, CBP has facilities in Terminal B and Terminal C. Terminal A does not maintain customs operations and, therefore, international flights may not arrive into Terminal A -- unless the flight departed from an international city that offers U.S. customs preclearance services.
CBP Travel Entry Forms
Upon arrival at the Newark Liberty Airport from a foreign destination, travelers will need to clear U.S. customs. All passengers are required to present CBP Declaration Form 6059B, which provides the government with information about the passenger and what agriculture products are being brought into the country.
CBP I-94 Form
CBP Declaration From 6059B is the only form required for entry into the United States by U.S. citizens and resident aliens as well as by Canadian citizens. All other travelers entering the United States will need to fill out CBP I-94 Form.
Cargo
Port personnel in Newark also enforce U.S. import and export laws and regulations to cargo entering the country. Trained CBP employees examine cargo and passenger bags to prevent harmful or illegal substances, including certain agricultural items, from entering the United States.
